The beauty that is my new home.
I am a North Carolina girl, born and raised. When I was younger I could hardly imagine leaving my home. I always wanted to travel, but that always meant that I would come home to NC.
As the years went on, I realized that my heart was being tugged in a new direction. A direction that pulled my southern soul even further south, to Florida. Even though I was raised by northerners, I still consider myself a Southern Bell. With that being said, I feel the right to claim that Florida is not the south.
The Bible belt seems to stop right before the borders of my new town.
The sweet tea isn't quite as sought after.
The familiar "southern hospitality" just doesn't seem to be the same here.
It might not be the true south that I grew up in, but I've found my home in this Sunny State.
The people I have met since arriving here,
The places I have seen since arriving here,
The adventures I have had since arriving here,
All of these things have allowed me to fall madly in love with Florida.
One of my new goals in life is to explore this state to its fullest. I want to see every coastline, surf every wave, and drive every mile.
I want to be a Floridian who truly knows her home.
This may all sound silly to you, but I want to challenge you: explore your home state, learn the land you live on, and appreciate your surroundings.
